EFFRA Elects New Board of Directors

BRUSSELS, 21 May. The EFFRA General Assembly has today elected a new Board of Directors for the period 2015-2017. Consisting of experts from industry and research, this new Board will be instrumental in overseeing the implementation of the agenda of the ‘Factories of the Future’ partnership while also representing the private side in this partnership.

The new Board represents all of the major European manufacturing sectors as well as Europe’s leading research and technology organisations. This ensures that the priorities of both the ‘Factories of the Future’ partnership and those of EFFRA are industry-relevant.

Members of the European Parliament & EFFRA Discuss Digitalisation

BRUSSELS, 12 May. An informative and timely exchange of views between EFFRA, Members of the Parliament and important stakeholders on the topic of digitalisation, has taken place in the European Parliament today.

Under the theme ‘What “Digital”/What “Smart” for Advanced Manufacturing?‘, expert speakers, including EFFRA Vice-Chairman Prof. Egbert-Jan Sol presented their perspective on issues in and round digitalisation and what it means for manufacturing in Europe. Speakers also included Mr. Strohmeier, Deputy Director General at DG Research, Mr. Khalil Rouhana, Director for Complex Systems at DG CONNECT and Ms. Danuta Hübner, MEP (former European Commissioner for Regional Policy).

Impact Workshop Discusses Progress & Challenges

BRUSSELS, 30 April. The annual ‘Factories of the Future’ project Impact Workshop took place in Brussels on 28 and 30 April with the participation of over 150 representatives of ‘Factories of the Future’ projects.

Projects were divided into three parallel sessions based upon the ‘Factories of the Future’ roadmap domains wherein clustered projects presented their progress and key points. The parallel discussions considered a number of general challenges encountered by projects including IPR, technology transfer and support for taking results closer to the market.
